Frequently Asked Questions

Is Oaxaca safe?
Yes. Oaxaca is a welcoming, vibrant, and tourist-friendly destination. We'll be staying in the historic center, where charming pedestrian-only cobblestone streets are filled with cafés, galleries, markets, and shops, making it an enjoyable and easy area to explore on foot.

Is the food and water safe?
Absolutely. Oaxaca is considered one of the world's great culinary destinations. Restaurants use filtered water and ice, and our hotel provides complimentary filtered drinking water throughout your stay so you can easily refill your water bottle.

How should I pay for things while I'm there?
Obtaining pesos is easy using nearby ATMs with your bank card. Credit cards and Apple Pay are also widely accepted at many restaurants, cafés, galleries, and shops.

Will there be free time?
Yes! We've intentionally created an itinerary that balances guided experiences with personal time. There is so much to discover within walking distance of the hotel—artisan markets, museums, galleries, churches, bakeries, cafés, and beautiful streets—that we've left plenty of opportunities to explore on your own or with fellow travelers.

Do I need to speak Spanish?
Not at all. We'll be happy to translate whenever needed, and many restaurants and businesses in the historic center have English-speaking staff.

How will we get around?
We'll have a private driver for all scheduled excursions, allowing our group to travel comfortably together to artisan villages, workshops, and archaeological sites. If you're arriving on the recommended flight, we'll meet you at Oaxaca International Airport (OAX), coordinate transportation to the hotel, and provide guidance before your trip on customs and immigration so you'll know exactly what to expect.

What about meals?
Oaxaca is internationally celebrated for its incredible food. We'll make reservations at several of our favorite restaurants, including some that are difficult to book without advance planning, while leaving other meals open so everyone has the flexibility to explore and dine together at their own pace.
