Monday Night Wheel Altered - Beyond the Cylinder

Take your throwing to the next level in this technique-focused course designed for students ready to move beyond round forms. Each week you’ll learn a new method for altering wheel-thrown pieces, including cutting and stretching pots, slicing and reassembling forms, texturing with heat and sodium silicate, and creating oval and freeform pieces. Along the way, we’ll also explore ceramic artists who use these techniques for inspiration.
Prerequisite: Students must be able to center and throw a 6-inch cylinder independently.

Level 1: Beginner Wheel – Foundations
Learn the essential skills of working on the pottery wheel in this welcoming, beginner-friendly class. Students will explore the fundamentals of centering, opening, pulling, and shaping clay while creating simple forms like cups and bowls. You’ll also learn how to use basic studio tools, trim your pieces, and glaze your finished work. No experience required—just curiosity, patience, and a love for getting your hands muddy.

PRivate Lessons
